CAL-PAL Youth Leadership Academy A Huge Success In Anaheim
Empowering the youth of California to become better leaders to their peers and for the future as they reach adulthood is one of California PAL's primary goals and this past April 6th - 9th, 2013, California PAL held another hugely successful Youth Leadership Academy in Anaheim.
Over 275 PAL youth, ages 12 - 17 along with adult chaperones arrived in Anaheim on April 6th and began three days of individual training along with team building exercises administered by Javier Sanchez and Shaun Derrick of Reach Communications. With the assistance of the ten California PAL Youth Leadership Board of Directions, Javier and Shaun conducted a wide range of large group and small group exercises that would help all of the attendees learn about how to become effective leaders at their local PAL chapters, in their schools and in their communities. For two of the days, after the training classes had concluded, the kids were able to go to Disneyland and enjoy the fun... many for the very first time. The conference this year was also attended by some out of state PAL chapters from Howell Township, New Jersey, South Salt Lake City and Charlotte, North Carolina. California PAL would also like to thank the National PAL for their help with funding this year's conference.
Planning has already begun for the California PAL 2014 YLA Conference and we will be looking to step things up a notch and provide even more youth with the vital leadership training that will help them stay out of trouble and become role models withing their communities for other youth to follow!
