Lopez Twins Pledge Their Support to California PAL in Video

The California Police Activities League and its 120 local PAL chapters offer athletics and activities that help prepare underserved youth to become a successful part of our future.  Professional NBA stars Brook and Robin Lopez participated in PAL youth basketball programs.  Their lives demonstrate how successful youth can become.  In a video to be released in November they voice their support of PAL programs and encourage youth to get involved now.

The Lopez twin’s careers exemplify just how far kids can go with a little help . . . success at the elite AAU basketball level . . . stellar basketball careers at Stanford University . . . accomplished NBA members.  Brook Lopez plays for the New Jersey Nets of the NBA and twin brother Robin Lopez plays for the Phoenix Suns. Both were drafted highly in the 2008 NBA Draft after celebrated college careers while starting for the Stanford Cardinal basketball team.

They were born in North Hollywood, California into a life of basketball as their grandfather played at Colorado State University and an older brother played at Santa Clara. They moved to their current hometown of Fresno, California as youth. They played youth basketball at PAL. Teammates on their successful AAU team, the Elite Basketball Organization (EBO), included Quincy Poindexter of the New Orleans Hornets, Derrick Jasper and Tre'Von Willis, both of UNLV.

Both Brook and Robin competed in the 2006 McDonald's All-American Game against several current NBA players including Kevin Durant and Greg Oden.

At Stanford they received multiple PAC 10 honors and broke several Stanford team records. On March 31, 2008, both Lopez brothers declared for the 2008 NBA draft.  They have continued their successful transition to playing NBA basketball at the highest level as well as being excellent role models.  They have given freely of their time and talent to make sure others can continue to be involved and have the advantages youth would get in no other way . . . through PAL.

With one-on-one mentoring, coaching, homework help, athletics and activities law enforcement officers, staff and volunteers help youth meet life’s challenges.  Growing up takes a team . . . you can join that team today
