California PAL Basketball

PAL Basketball is one of California PALs most successful athletic tournaments. A large number of our PAL member chapters conduct some sort of Basketball programs for their kids to participate in. This is mainly due to the low-cost and ease of setting up a Basketball program. Building upon this, California PAL has held an annual Basketball Tournament to bring together at-risk kids from all around the state to compete.
California PAL holds both a Northern California Regional and Southern California Regional Tournament, which is usually held in January or February of each year.
Stressing sportsmanship and fair-play, California PALs Basketball Tournaments are not designed for the ultra-competitive AAU traveling teams but for those kids that do not regularly participate in high-school or competitive basketball leagues or do not have the means to participate in any other basketball league programs. PAL basketball is all about giving the kids a safe and enriching experience to build up confidence in their lives.
California PAL's Basketball program is held for both Boys and Girls divisions and we currently play in the following three age brackets: 12 and Under, 14 and Under and 16 and Under. California PAL adheres to the National Federation of State High School Association competition rules along with the addition of various sportsmanship rules that guarantee that every youth on the team will play in the games during our tournaments.
For many PAL youth, attending a California PAL Tournament may be the first time they have left their city or neighborhood and by supporting California PAL, you are enabling us to create opportunities for California's youth to participate in positive activities and reducing juvenile crime throughout the state.
